Xduke 19.7.1 Demo Recorder v1.0 beta 3 by Replica

xDuke 19.7.1 Demo recorder for Duke Nukem 3D

Duke Nukem 3D Demo Recorder Changes

Version 1.0 Beta 3

Added 2 new features

*New feature* - Disable item pickup green screen flash effect, use this if the game sometimes pauses on picking up an item, this also disables a blood hit effect.
*New feature* - Disable fall damage red screen blood flash effect.

Some people have complained about there screen pausing in xDuke 19.7.1. This seems to be a bug in xDuke when usually people are running lots of programs in the background. But some can never get rid of it. This is like an experimental feature to solve those short screen freezes you get then green all down it.
Same can happen for blood flashes on your screen like when the player gets hit by ammo or falls from high up onto the floor.
Please let me know if this helped or not if you think it's a good feature.
I kept blood flashes on the player dies or player dies from falling because you die anyway.
If you notice any other problems when screen stuff comes up let me know and what operating system you used.
As I also like to investigate xDuke bugs.

Duke3d Demo Recorder system requirements

xDuke 19.7.1
Windows XP

Note that this has only been tested on XP and Vista and may not work a tall with other operating systems.
Has been tested on Vista Ultimate 64 bit Edition and it works if you run the program as an administrator with admin privileges without problems. If not ran with admin privileges on Vista it can develop problems.

HOW TO USE

1. Copy the xdukedemorecorder to your xDuke 19.7.1 folder were your duke3d_w32.exe is.

2. Start xdukedemorecorder.exe then minimize it to your desktop.

3. Play games in Dukesterx as normal multiplayer and it will record every time you launch a new game in Dukesterx and the demo1.dmo gets saved with a readme.txt template in the demos folder then sub folders in date/time order. After you end your current game you can go ahead and play your next game & it will record the next demo in a new folder.
*Not for single player use but you can use it in single player. It's best to use command lines to go straight to the map you want to play in single player*

PLAYING BACK YOUR DEMO

Every demo gets saved in the demos folder then another folder with date and time format.
When playing back your demo remember to close this program or it will turn record back on and overwrite demo1.dmo but only in your main folder were duke is.
All your demos are saved in the demos folder under the other folders organized in date/time format neatly.

SPECIAL FEATURES INSIDE GAME

/ key - Press the / key on the right side of your keyboard usually the one beside the Num Lock to turn record off at any time when playing your game.
This is useful if you need to turn record off fast so that when the other player restarts the map or a new level it won't overwrite your demo and start recording again.
It takes around 10 seconds of every time you start Duke up till this button is enabled.
If you require me to change the key to something better then send me an email and I will send you a new compiled recorder with the key you want to have.

AUTO RECORD OFF INSIDE THE GAME

This is a new feature and is experimental!
This will make sure record turns off if the other player restarts the map or even if you restart the map!
However be warned, it works but I recommend turning it off as for now the last few seconds of each game is lost in the demo file.
I have disabled this in Beta 2 as it still needs work. With an option like this it can be possible to record all maps played without restarting xDuke in future versions though no guarantees that I will work on that!

WHAT IF I DON'T WANT TO BE RECORDED!

For anyone that doesn't like to be recorded you can. Simply when the game starts hit the end level nuke button to end the level then start on the map you want and this will turn off demo recording on all player sides. This allows people to have more privacy and control so they don't have to worry about being recorded.
You don't need the recorder to be able to disable someone when recording a demo. Just hit the nuke button to end there demo recording mode.
